Throughout my experiences I have had the chance meet several individuals who have tried numerous ways to lose weight. Although each story allowed me to learn a lot, I found that some had very questionable methods, very unhealthy ones at that. Not only were these people putting themselves in danger with health risks but, they were also not really losing any weight either. What gives? 
There is no quick fix for weight loss. It takes commitment and dedication. No, it is not an easy task however; doing it the right way will ensure long-term success with permanent lifestyle changes. 
Are you guilty of any of the following weight loss personalities? If yes, well then you are doing it all wrong! 
The Calorie Contradictor 
For some reason, the no calorie diet is a big trend these days. Yes, to lose weight, you must cut your calories. But, truth be told, people are doing it all wrong. You see your body needs good fat, healthy carbs and lean protein to survive. If you start cutting out the good stuff, your body will become deficient and this could lead to serious health risks. Did you know that healthy fats could actually help you burn the bad fats? If you don’t know what you should and shouldn’t be eating, then don’t make up your own nutrition plan. Please go see a professional. 
The Laxative Lover
Pills, powders, teas, suppositories, you name it… It doesn’t matter what form it comes it. If you are not constipated and have not been prescribed a laxative by a physician than you should not be taking them. The excessive use of laxatives can cause a weakened digestive system and can cause serious abdominal complications.  
The Meal Skipper 
Why one would voluntarily choose to skip a meal these days is beyond me… There is so much literature on the Internet that clearly demonstrates how useless and ineffective this method is. I have often heard people saying that they do it so that they can “save” calories. Really??? Now, whoever started this rumor was not the sharpest tool in the shed. Your metabolism actually increases when you eat. So, by skipping meals, you are actually causing your metabolism to slow down. Resulting in weight gain, not weight loss… 
The Gym Addict
Maintaining a regular exercise regime and healthy eating habits is always recommended, whether you are dieting or not. However, like I previously mentioned, it needs to be done the right way. If you are on a weight loss diet and you’re not eating a proper and well-balanced diet, your body is probably undernourished. So, adding on an excessive exercise regime to your schedule is nothing but bad news. The more you exercise, the more your body will need energy and crave calories. You are better off doing light to moderate cardio 3-5 times a week for only 30 minutes at a time along with strength training in between.
The Pill Popper 
There is no such thing as a magic pill that can make you skinny overnight. Stop letting yourself be fooled by such claims. If it worked, wouldn’t everyone do it? Ingesting a concoction of various drugs and pills to lose weight can be very damaging to your brain and to your health. I do not recommend taking any kind of miracle drug. I believe in clean eating and regular exercise but if you must try it for yourself, please do your research and consult your family doctor first. 
I was once told that weight loss is not a sprint. It is a marathon. Be the tortoise, not the hare. These are true words of wisdom in my opinion. Think about it!
