Did you know?

Low-carb meal plans and keto diets have been known to be therapeutic for various disorders of the brain. While your brain does need glucose to a certain degree, too much can cause damage. The brain burns glucose, however, when we avoid carbs the liver produces glucose out of protein which leads the brain to burn ketones instead. Ketones are manifested when our body is in starvation mode or if we do not consume enough carbohydrates.

There have been numerous studies to show that the keto diet can have a positive impact on children who suffer from seizures that can’t be remedied with standard drug treatment. Though, this is not the case for some children. One study showed that a group of children with over half of them on a keto diet reported 50% fewer seizures, and 16% of these children stopped having seizures altogether.
