I was also told to avoid fats by my doctor as I have a fatty liver. I also like the low carb way of eating because it keeps my diabetes in check. I am starting over as I fell off the wagon last year. So, this time, I am avoiding fried foods, processed foods as much as possible, and switching to a vegetarian way of eating. Extra virgin olive oil is a great source of healthy fat.
I don’t subscribe to the notion of eating foods labeled as “low-fat” because they are usually loaded with extra carbs and sugar.
Avoid fried foods and eat lean proteins. Ask your doctor to clarify how low of a % of fat he/she wants you to eat.
