Sandy’s Confetti Turkey Burgers Are a Delicious Take on A Tried-and-True Favorite
There were many amazing recipes submitted to the LowFatLowCarb Recipe Contest, but in the end, we had to pick one.
Congratulations to Sandy of Graham, Washington for her winning Confetti Turkey Burgers recipe! Her amazing recipe puts a fun new spin on this backyard grilling favorite, but swaps the bun for fresh lettuce and mixes in delicious flavors and spices with lean ground turkey for something that’s delicious and nutritious!
Sandy’s approach is to make meals that taste great, get her a bit out of her comfort zone, and look fantastic on a plate.
“I love burgers on the grill any time of the year,” explains Sandy. “I think that your food should look good and be full of flavor in every bite. Ground turkey usually lacks in flavor and sometimes appearance when it comes to burgers, and that’s why I added the seasonings, peppers, and mushrooms right into the meat.”
It’s a fantastic approach that we at LowFatLowCarb are big fans of.
“Also,” adds Sandy, “by adding the pickles, tomato, and onion, and wrapping it in lettuce, you don’t even miss having a bun.”
Sandy first heard about LowFatLowCarb through the Ideal Protein Weight Loss Program.
“I knew that I could find Phase 1-friendly recipes, and I didn’t have to worry about ingredients that weren’t protocol showing up in the recipes,” she explains.
Plus, the presentation helped.
“The videos are helpful and all of the recipes are easy to follow. I appreciate how you can pick what type of recipes want to view based on your eating plan,” says Sandy.
In fact, Sandy says that the recipes helped her stick to her healthy eating goals. “I’ve reached my goal, and maintained my weight for over a year, and I know LFLC has played a role in my success. My passion has always been for baking, but I’ve learned to really enjoy cooking healthy meals. I cook something from the site at least once a week, and I am constantly sharing the recipes with others.”
So what recipes is Sandy enjoying these days? “Right now, I think my favorite recipe is a tie between Oven Baked Chicken Fajitas and BBQ Rosemary Steak Roll Bites. I don’t think there’s a recipe I’ve tried that I haven’t liked!”
It’s easy to see that Sandy’s discovered a passion for healthy cooking and is loving trying new recipes. Her positive attitude on healthy food is infectious, and she’s got encouraging words for people looking to get serious about it.
“Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring,” says Sandy. “It’s so easy to incorporate into your lifestyle. The options for good, healthy food are unlimited if you’re willing to try new things and new flavors.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves—congratulations, Sandy!
