Not Just Another Diet Site

Weight issues have become a major public health issue. In modern society, where obesity has become an epidemic, these issues have become one of the principal causes of mortality today. As you probably already know, obesity is often related to health problems like hypertension, cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes… the list goes on. Doctors call this epidemic Syndrome X or the Metabolic Syndrome.

Today, there are many medicinal treatments for these diseases. That said, all doctors and health professionals agree that watching what you eat through your diet as well as regular exercise to lose weight remains the main priority.

These days, it’s clear that gaining weight is the result of several factors:

  • Environmental factors, like a person’s community, home and, workplace, can have a strong influence on an individual’s health decisions.
  • Genetics can contribute to obesity, but genes do not always predict a person’s future health.
  • Drug treatments or disease may also lead to obesity or weight gain.

When it comes to weight gain or loss, and whichever factor you may relate to, it is very apparent that ‘Outside’ factors also significantly increase our susceptibility for weight issues: our food portions are too big, we eat poorly and don’t get enough physical activity!

Canada’s Food Guide states that carbohydrates, like all foods, have a place in healthy eating. However, we all know that it is the excess of carbohydrates that are to blame, which is often combined with an excess of fatty acids and obviously an overconsumption of alcohol. Certain diets considerably reduce all carbs and others allow them in specific proportions. At LowFatLowCarb, we don’t want to school you, however, it is safe to say that one person may lose weight while maintaining a non-negotiable food intake of carbs, while this may not be the case for another.

Why The answer is simple…

How many times have you heard the phrase, “I’m being very careful with what I eat, but I’m not losing any weight!” Or, let’s say if you eat nothing but three peas in a pod for a meal replacement, not only will you will not be able to sustain this diet for very long but your weight loss method will once again fail.

In reality, it all depends on the genetics and specific circumstances of each individual person and this is the reason why we at LowFatLowCarb have decided to considerably reduce the amount of carbs and fat in our recipes so that everyone can benefit. For example, if your diet allows for a portion of carbs, simply add it as a side dish instead. You will find that our recipes will work wonders.

Our website is not a weight loss program and definitely does not replace your dietician or coach. We have created a website to help you prepare healthier daily meal plans, no matter what your diet may be. All in all, LowFatLowCarb is dedicated to those who wish to control and maintain their body in a healthier way.

Our goal is to both offer and show you how to prepare low fat and low carb recipes, to prove that maintaining a healthier daily diet can be anything but boring… it can be fun!

All this to say: There is no balance without pleasure!

As quoted by Hippocrates: “ Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”.
