It is pretty well known that watching what you eat and exercising regularly has a positive impact on your health. But “watching what you eat” isn’t always very clear, and may mean different things to different people.

Like most foods, carbohydrates and fats play a role in a well-rounded diet; however, an excess of either, or both can result in serious health repercussions ranging from obesity and diabetes to high cholesterol and reduced heart health. If it works for you and your body, a low fat low carb diet could potentially reduce your risk for these afflictions while simultaneously improving your overall health and well-being.

Let’s start with the basics: carbohydrates and fats are two of three macronutrients (the third being protein) that are essential for your body to function properly. Carbohydrates are the sugars, starches, and fibers found in fruits, grains, vegetables, and milk products—they are your body’s main source of energy.

Fatty acids can be categorized as monounsaturated or polyunsaturated (both of which you should aim to increase in your diet), saturated (which you should aim to limit), or Trans fat (which you should aim to eliminate) based on their chemical structure. Every type of fat impacts your overall health in vastly different ways.

Now, our name may have given it away, but all of the recipes developed by LowFatLowCarb support a low-fat, low-carb diet. In addition, the carbs and fatty acids that we do incorporate into our recipes are those we deem to be high quality and good for your health.

It’s important to note that the terms “low fat” and “low carb” are subjective, and will mean something different for every individual. While you may be able to incorporate a few portions of carbs into your diet, someone else may find this detrimental to their overall health. That’s why all of our recipes can be modified to suit any meal plan or personal preference.

Regardless of the modifications you make, you can rest assured that each recipe has been skillfully developed to incorporate foods that we believe will positively impact your health. As a bonus, they’re also as simple, fast, and delicious as possible!
